What I Ate Wednesday- Time For a Change

After taking a little time off I'm back with lots of food on this WIAW! I've admittedly had a rough time in the gym department over the past 6 weeks or so. A few weeks ago I decided I would start counting my macros again but that doesn't really do a whole lot in the way of gaining muscle or leaning out if you're not going to the gym or when you are going only giving it 50%. 

It's been a struggle lately because of the sleep thing (yes, still dealing with that) and it's hard to muster up the energy for a good workout on just a few hours of sleep. Last week I looked at myself in the mirror and realized my muscle that I've busted my butt for was slowly disappearing. It was a big wake up call and since last Monday I've increased my macros and started really giving it my all when I do go to the gym. It's not any easier, but I think now that I have a goal to add some more muscle it's easier to focus and really push hard- even if it takes an extra scoop of pre workout ;) 

Here's what my meals looked like yesterday: 

Flat out wrap with egg whites 
Egg whites with asparagus and 2 slices Ezekiel toast 
Flat out fold over with Boars head turkey and a couple strawberries 
Protein shake and 1/2 banana 
Greek yogurt with blueberries and a crumbled rice cake 
Chicken chili over shredded lettuce 
Casein with peanut butter and a crumbled rice cake (not pictured) 

I'll be updating you guys with some new workouts since I'm switching up my training style just a bit, stay tuned! 


  1. Hey girl sorry to here you are struggling :0(. I however am in the same boat. Sleep or lack there of is the smallest of my health concerns. After years of ignoring certain things I FINALLY gave in and went to see my bosses wife which is a holistic doctor who isn't just gonna pump full of crap pills. I knew a lot of change would come to my life once I started seeing her but I had too. My health issues both physically and mentally have been controlling my life in a negative way and I needed to get help. My gym performance has literally just been getting worse and worse. Every gain is gone. instead of increasing weight amounts I have been slowly decreasing. Fatigue, aches, pains, injuries blah blah blah. Grrr. So, anyway so far she has discovered my body is so depleted of FATS that my body has stopped functioning properly. My body is not taking in nutrients the way it is supposed so I am mal nourished. SHe is also going to look into adrenal and thyroid issues.

    SOOO to make a long story short one of the first things she is doing is pumping my body FULL of FAT! I mean AGRESSIVELY so. More then half my macros are going to come from FAT. I am scared to death but I have to in order to get my body functioning properly.

    There are other things too but that is just the tip of the ice berg. Sorry to make this so long just wanted to be open and honest. Thanks for listening :0). I hope you feel better soon.

    1. So sorry to hear you're going through this! Hopefully increasing your fats will help you feel better and you can get back to your old self-- plus, who doesn't love a little extra peanut butter!? :)

  2. Hey little B! Sorry to hear about not being able to sleep! :( I hope you find something that helps! I have a question for you - I am confused about net calories. I have been tracking everything I eat for the past couple months just to get a good base for my transformation. I have lost 15 lbs so far and quite a few inches!!! So, I am working out twice a day - burning around 750-800 calories by the end of the day (I have the polar FT4 too!) Should I be eating those calories that I burn? For my particular goal, I eat about 1600 calories per day but thats not including what I have burnt - meaning I really am only eating 800 calories....yikes! Is this correct?

  3. Looks like you eat pretty healthy and have pretty healthy life habits. I think it all comes down to personality and how intense you are (or aren't) about things. I don't know you personally, obviously, ..but you sound like a very conscientious person that likes to make sure you always dot your i's and cross your t's. In other words, a type A person. It's just who you are. For someone like you, it's a good idea to go out of your way to actually create moments of rest and relaxation... and not let anything interfere with those moments. It's hard to acknowledge as true, but a stressful lifestyle is what ultimately attracts disease, poor health and poor sleep., Even if you exercise and eat clean with consistent religiosity,.. even if you were are a fitness guru, your can't separate one aspect of your health from the other. Clearly, your body is telling you so. Hope you can relax and start feeling better soon.
