What I Ate Wednesday- Summer Ready Week 3

Week 3 here we go! I'll start this week out by noting that today is Ash Wednesday and to keep myself accountable I'll also tell you I'm giving up alcohol for lent. Zero, zip, not even a sip! 40 days, here we go!

I made a small change to my meal plan, lowered it by about 100 calories to get a little jump start on fat loss. I cut my whole egg out of my breakfast and then just needed about 30 more calories from another meal, no biggie.

Breakfast number 2 was 2 pieces of Ezekiel toast and some more egg whites. After this meal I hit the gym for some back and bis and gosh, higher reps really get me! It's so much more challenging for me to get through the workout and I'm SORE! Really sore.

Post workout I did Greek yogurt, pumpkin/flax cereal, and berries. I also mixed in a little MRM protein powder to up the protein a bit.

A super plain salad with turkey taco meat on top for a snack. To be honest this didn't keep me full very long at all, but then again there wasn't a whole lot to it. I notice now that I've started eating a lot more carbs, if a meal doesn't have carbs in it, it hardly keeps me full.

I made a big batch of salsa chicken that will last throughout the week for lunches and snacks- last night I just had mine with some brown rice. I love mixing this chicken in with egg whites, putting it on salads, or making tacos!

Are you giving up something for lent? Or maybe adding something new to your life?

Hey Girl! Sorry in advance but I'm going to drive you insane with foodie questions :-O. First what is in your ground turkey? It looks SUPER yummy. Also when you make salsa chicken what salsa do you use? Its hard for me to find one that is not loaded with sugar and salt. I was also wondering about your pumpkin muffins in a previous post. They looked different and was wondering if you have changed your recipe at all? Oh and I LOVE mixing egg whites in my baked veggies or shredded chicken too. It's SO GOOD RIGHT!?

    1. Ground turkey just has taco seasoning and onions, I just use a generic salsa I don't really worry about sodium just look for one a little lower in sugar, and pumpkin bars are just the original recipe :)

  2. Props for giving up alcohol for Lent! I've never managed a month without a drop, but I'm not bad at 'moderating' it.

    1. That's awesome! I'm usually good at moderation too, but I definitely like challenging myself!

  3. Luckily for me I have never been a big alcohol drinker so that's never the issue. Now giving up chocolate or coffee would be a really test, but I don't want to lose all of my friends by being grumpy and tired all month! This lent I am choosing to give up complaining. And because its harder to track I will put a dollar away any time I slip! Should be interesting! Do you make your salsa chicken with chicken breasts? I tried to make some the other week with a whole chicken and it never really picked up the flavor very well.

  4. What brand of brown rice do you use? I have been trying to make the switch over from white rice. But every time I make brown rice it unfortunately tastes like cardboard

  6. Just curious if you really only eat veggies at one meal? I guess I am used to following Jamie Eason's Livefit and it recommends a TON of veggies.

    1. haha, do you think I would lie about not eating a lot of veggies?

Sometimes I eat more, sometimes not. I take greens, and a multivitamin so if I don't feel like veggies I don't worry about it.

That's okay Brittany I eat enough vegetables to feed the STATE of California. In one DAY! LOL. Seriously no joke.
