What I Ate Wednesday- New Food Loves

So, I have a couple new food loves lately. Well, I suppose one is actually a drink- the Power Green juice from a local restraunt Chop Shop. It's kale, 1/2 apple, lemon, lime, celery, parsley, ginger, and cucumber. It's soooo good and makes me want a juicer sooo bad! (It's on our wedding registry along with a waffle maker which I am also dying for. Hint, hint!)

My second new love is a little odd but super good- hard boiled egg whties filled with peanut butter and topped with cinnamon and Stevia. Sounds weird but tastes great and it's oddly really, really filling. Love it. All my other eats were pretty normal, check them out below!

- Yam and veggies scramble
- Sweet potato pancakes
- Cottage cheese, oats, and peanut butter
- Green juice!
- Egg whites and peanut butter with cinnamon
- Turkey and green beans with almonds
- Egg white and veggie scramble with brown rice

What are some of your favorite weird food combos?

  1. You will not regret the juicer if you're into green juice. LOVE mine. I too want a waffle maker and a Vitamix for Xmas! x

  2. I have a Breville Juicer and it is the best investment I have ever made. I juice once a day and feel great and you can juice anything!!

  3. Okay - I thought I was the only one who did that with hard boiled eggs! Except I use almond butter and cinnamon but it's the same idea! ;) If I'm in the mood for savory, I fill them with hummus or avocado!

  4. First, I want to say thank you again for yesterdays post! Today after a KILLER back and Bi's workout I decided to change up my usual steady state cardio with my first love SPIN!! Unfortunately, the day I decide to do this the class is cancelled ha! Oh well I went into the spin room, turned on the radio and kicked my own booty. I was a sweaty tired mess (after only 20 minutes hehe)but, I had the time of my life!!! SO miss spinning.

Okay second, I love that egg white combo! Only I do almond butter or cashew butter (homemade mmmmm). Also, I have a combo that is like a party exploding in your mouth. You MUST try egg whites stuffed with mashed up yam with cinnamon sprinkled on top. OH. MY. YUMMIES.So good!!!! Sometimes I will drizzle them with some nut butter or balsamic vinegar.

    1. That's awesome! I feel you on the 20 minutes thing- If I was in there alone I probably wouldn't even make it that long, but when you're in a class the hour just flies by! And the eggs/yam sounds right up my alley! Thanks for sharing!

  5. I use my vitamix to make a bounce back smoothie that sounds almost like that green drink. Love it. I make protein waffles (egg whites, myofusion cinnamon roll protein powder, and oats blended in my vitamix.)

  6. I have a Jack Lalanne juicer and it works great with fruit juices, but not so great with green juices. It doesn't press leafy greens very well. And, it's kind of a pain to clean. I wish I would have done a little more research because I LOVE green juices!

  7. Just curious your height and weight and the amount of foods your eating. I think we're similar and would love to know what's working for you? Right now I'm trying to build so I'm eating a bit more and adding in some more carbs.

    1. I'm 5'1 103ish

When I'm building I try to do 40-40-20 and upwards of 2000 calories. Right now I'd guess I'm at around 1500 and 30-40-30

  8. Ill agree with the vitamix and breville. both are great! i tend to use my vitamix more though since it is so versatile. quick question on the juice-how do you account for it in your daily food intake? I love green juice also and was just adding the actual fruit and veggie into MFP. someone told me you lose a lot of the fiber though with juicing so i'm not sure if any of the macros or nutrition stats change. thanks!

    1. You do lose most of the fiber in the veggies, but the good thing is you get the vitamins. I honestly don't track it!

    2. ok, thanks! i was most concerned with the carbs from the fruit but i guess it's minimal with just half an apple.

  10. Love the power green juice idea. That is a very smart way to have several fruits or vegetables at a time. I must dust off my juicer right away.

  11. Hi! Is it best to reduce carbs when trying to build muscle without adding extra fat? What is a good macro balance for this? Thanks Tamsin

  13. Hmm egg whites and peanut butter are an interesting combo. But I mean peanut butter can make anything taste good so I'll have to give that a try!
