What I Ate Wednesday!

It's 8:15pm on Tuesday (leg day) and my booty is already sore! My fav! I'm really enjoying doing our own thing for a while and also really excited that we decided we'll be doing Ashley Conrads program that she just released on bodybuilding.com to get ready for our Bach/elorette party in August. It looks absolutely insane, in the best way possible.

I think we'll finish off June doing our own thing, and then jump back into a little James Wilson for a month or so. We'll see. We're kind of on the no plan plan and I'm liking it.

On to the eats!

And just because I get asked all the time, my calories are at about 1600 right now, 30-40-30 split.

Do you always have a plan at the gym? What are you currently doing?

    1. That's so awesome-- I'm a chronic over planner in all aspects of life... sometimes it works out and sometimes it drives me nuts haha

  2. Currently I am doing my own thing, because I knew I'd be traveling soon. Once I am home from NYC I am going to do the Short cut to shred off BB.com before my trip to Costa Rica. It's nice to break away from a routine once in a while!

  3. I don't normally follow a plan because whenever I try - the equipment I need is in use and it ends up throwing me off. I stick to a rigid plan. I know what needs to get done and how to get my heart rate going to I modify when I need to!
I did hear about Ashley's plan and I'm going to look into it! :)

  4. As an avid runner- I am only "in training" when training for a half or full marathon...otherwise- I switch between free weights, running for "fun" or taking classes at the gym (Pilates/yoga/boot camp)...Do you ever do anything other than weights? Do you ever get burnt out? i know when I am training for an endurance run, I get pretty burnt out on the training and love to add in something else to keep my tail in the gym...but you seem to never get burnt out?

    1. I sprinkle in hot yoga now and then but that's pretty much it. I have definitely been burned out before-- I just have to make sure I am diligent about getting in my 1-2 rest days a week to avoid over training and burn out. I also take a full week off every 12 weeks which helps too :)

  5. I started Body Earned this week and I LOVE it so far.

When I'm not following a program I always need some sort of plan in my head walking into the gym, or I'll stand there looking useless staring at the weights.

For your macros, is that protein-carbs-fat?

  6. Is there a reason why you're eating on the lower carb side or is that just what works for you? I want to try eating less than 40% carbs but I'm unsure of how the higher fat will affect me.

    1. During the summer I change it up just because it helps me stay a little leaner-- always keep my carbs over 100g, usually they're at about 120g. Then, in the winter when my focus is building muscle I switch it up to 40-40-20.

  7. Do you have a recipe for the turkey zucchini burger? Looks so good!

    1. I literally just grate the zucchini and mix it in with the turkey. For spices I use onion, garlic powder, salt, and pepper

  8. I just downloaded Ashley Conrad's routine last week! It does look super intense. I have not tried it yet because I got distracted by the man of steel workout routine (designed by the national guard) that Henry Cavali did to get ready for his superman role. Today was my first workout from it and let me tell you, my quads are crying and I'm sure that I will not be able to walk come tomorrow morning. :-)
Thanks for the morning egg whites & sweet potatoes meal inspiration. I don't have time to actually make egg whites on the skillet so I use hard boiled egg whites with some hot sauce instead with the sweet potatoes. DELISH! I can see why you've become addicted to this meal.

  9. I'm new to working out, working out in a gym, and eating healthy (sorta). I find that I will burn 900-1000 calories at the gym (1hr to 1hr 15mins of weights, 30mins of cardio) so I need a bit more food than my minimum amount of daily calories. If I don't count my calories and everything I eat, I've seen myself eat up to 800 calories UNDER! I use a phone app called JEFIT for my workouts and it keeps track of all of that for me. If I didn't use it, I don't know what I'm doing and would be wondering around :P

  10. I just finished week one of Ashley's program and it is kicking my butt!! If you like feeling like you gonna die while working out, you would love it. I do :) The only downside for me is that the routine stays the same through all 3 weeks. I like to switch things around so it won't get boring and keeps me motivated. Oh well, 3 weeks is not long after all :)

  11. Random question! What ketchup do you use? I've been using the Heinz reduced sugar, but it has Splenda in it and I was hoping to find something a little cleaner. I can't eat my egg whites plain and I hate hot sauce! (the sweet potatoes is a great idea though! Sometimes, I mix in sweet potatoes and black beans with my eggs and eat with avocado!)

  12. I just read all of Ashley Conrads workout on BB.com last night. I clicked on the workouts for all 3 weeks and the weight training sessions are the same each week. Is that true or do you think the links were not working?

  13. I was also going to try out Ashley's program as Jamie Eason posted it on her page last night :) The calories look really low - did you notice that? wondering if that's intentional because it's only 21 days!?

  14. I need to have a plan when I go to the gym. If I don't I feel lost and waste time standing around thinking about what to do. Having a plan allows me to get in get done and get home. I'm currently doing a routine from www.muscleandstrength.com to build muscle mass. It's going good so far.

  15. Let us know how Ashley's program goes for you! I'm getting married in October and think it would be good to do beforehand.
