Honeymoon Shoulders!

I'm so stinkin' excited, our honeymoon is booked!! We're going to beautiful Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic and I couldn't be more excited.

Looks like an absolute dream!

Okay, I have to stay here in reality for a few more months so lets talk shoulder day.

All this week and next week my goal is to have really intense workouts with active rests and everything super setted so that calorie burns are high and I work off a little of my summer-I-love-wine-and-happy-hour fat in the ab area that seems to have appeared. I'm not havin' it and I certainly want it gone by the fourth of July which means I am so ready to kill it in the gym.

Here's what today's workout looked like:

Then we did 15 minutes of cardio- my goal is to do at least 20 minutes of steady state or 12 minutes of sprints but B had a meeting this morning so we had to cut it a little short!

Have you ever been to Punta Cana? I would love to hear about it!
Is it easier or harder for you to stay lean in the summer?

  1. I've only been to Mexico, but I've heard great things about Punta Cana!

I'm definitely struggling with staying leaner and it's SO frustrating!
I'm away almost every weekend this summer (no joke), with no control over the food other than whatever LF snacks I bring for myself. This past weekend killed my stomach and I've been bloated since Sunday. I need some kind of game plan or I won't be going near another bikini all summer.

    1. Game plans are always good! Mine right now is intense workouts, getting my water in every single day and getting my cardio in too!

  4. Yup. Definitely harder to stay lean during the summer. I'm pretty good with being gluten-free but every time summer rolls around the beer comes back out. Doesn't help that there is now a ton of gluten-free beers. Just because it's gluten-free doesn't mean it's OK to drink...sigh.

Those pictures of Punta Cana look amazing! Never been but I may have to put it on my "places to visit" list :)

  5. Thanks for the great shoulder w/o, I will be doing this tomorrow!

Just wondering if you added any active rest to this, and if so, what did you add?

    Thanks!

    1. abs! Nothing in particular, but if we're near a decline bench I'll do those, if I'm at the cables, I'll do cable crunches etc.

  6. I was just there in January! Definitely do the tour where you get to see the culture/houses/eat the local food. It was the cheapest excursion but the best one by far! DO NOT GO WHALE WATCHING. Haha. Have fun!

  8. We stayed at the Majestic Colonial in Punta Cana. Beautiful beach. Great resort! I did this workout this am too (@ home)... With a few modifications and incorporated jumping jacks, mountain climbers, and some abs as active rests. I only have db's up to 20 lbs and a 25 lb kettlebell so I pushed as hard as I could with those.

  9. Awesome shoulder work out! I felt a little funny doing the plate pushes, but then saw a guy doing them after me... pretty sure that wasn't in his original work out plan ;)

One question- what is your meal timing like? do you space your meals out every 2.5 hours or do you wait until you're feeling a little hungry? On the weekends, do you stick to the same times that you do during the week or do you adjust depending on what time you wake up?

Thanks for the work out and the advice! :)
