Weekend of Temptations and Paleo-ish Food Prep

Hooooow is it Monday already!? And how is March nearly half way over? Crazy. I am pretty excited for the next two weeks to fly by because not only will I be able to eat as many dang carbs as I want, but I am going to Vegas at the end of the month, and then Coachella in April! Couldn't be more pumped. Anyway, back to reality...

I mentioned on Friday I was going to have sushi since I totally deserved it, and I just thought I would share my view throughout dinner. Not sure if I've shared this, but I've only drank one time since January 1st. Not that I'm a huge drinker, but I love my wine and I miss it! I sat and stared at the bar while I was eating my sushi and ooooh boy did I want to order something. BUT. I didn't.

Instead I sucked down lemon water and devoured my favorite roll, the Sunkist with no mayo and wrapped in cucumber. SO good. So stinkin' good.

Saturday we had a little movie night with my future brother in-law and nephew and here were our dinners.

A perk of having a significant other that eats clean 70% of the time is I don't have to keep any junk food in the house whatsoever. The downside? The times he takes advantage of that 30% while I'm in measure food mode. This greasy nasty looking pizza smelled so good... but getting my abs to pop just sounded a little bit better.

And of course last but not least, food prep Sunday! Look familiar? That's because it's basically exactly the same as last week, and will probably be exactly the same as next week. Unfortunately leaning out means boring foods which means boring food prep. Just give me two weeks and I'll be back with fun recipes and food preps, promise!!

Make it a great week!!

What do you do when you are tempted? Give in? Give in a little? or Flight it? For me, it all depends on my goals at the time!

  1. Can you tell me a typical day of what you eat from start to finish? I eat clean and boring but I still can't lose the last 5% of body fat since having my last child. I run 6 miles every other day and train 30 mins of the other days of the week. I just can't seem to get rid of this fat :( It has to be my nutirtion but I just can't figue out what I am doing wrong.

    1. I'm not little b :) but I am a trainer and I'd say cut back on that distance running, lift heeeeeavy and add in sprints after you lift! Just 15 mins of sprinting (hard 30 seconds rest 30) will really blast fat!

    2. Jamie hit it spot on! I think you may be doing too much cardio. Try tapering that back and also try tapering back your starchy carbs a bit. Up the water and watch the sodium! For my eats, just search WIAW in the search bar :)

  2. Hey girl I was the same this morning....MONDAY already!! However, I am excited because my bother and his family are coming down in 2 days. YAY!! first time his son will be hear.

With that said, I usually never give in which at times makes me the death of a party I feel but oh well. But...with my brother coming down I may have a little of something not sure yet. If I want something really bad then I will have a little.

Sushi will probably be one place we go. Your rolls look SO GOOD!! What exactly is in them?

Thanks girl! Keep up the good work and have a wonderful day!!!

    1. How fun! If it were any other time you better believe I would have ordered that drink, or two! Definitely fun to indulge now and then especially when it's a special occasion :) My roll is just tuna, salmon, and avocado and I dip in Sriracha!

  3. I have definitely cut WAY back on drinking over the past few years and while I do enjoy my drinks here and there, the lack of hangovers is really what motivates me! Although when I'm out with friends, I do have to give in and have 1 drink. That's all I need to feel "nice." haha! It actually prevents me from indulging in things that are fried, breaded, etc. The cocktail is my "cheat."

    1. I prefer to cheat with cocktails too! Since my stomach is so sensitive to gluten and dairy I find it's much more satisfying to have a drink and the occasional hangover versus a horrific stomach ache. I do have to agree with you on the no hangover thing though sometimes it only takes a couple to really feel off your game the next day!

  5. It's been a little over a year since I've indulged in a drink & to tell you the truth it feels great. I haven't felt like I've been missing out in fact I've been gaining a huge sense of pride, accomplishment and love for feeling GREAT. Great blog- it sounds like we'd be real life friends. :)

    1. What an accomplishment! I do agree it definitely makes you feel empowered, but I can't lie, I'm ready for a drink haha! You look great in your photo, so it's definitely paying off!

  6. I haven't had a drink since Jan 21st, and then it was a glass (or 2) of sangria. I'm in "prep" mode myself, but not for a photoshoot, for a trip, at the end of April. This will be my last week of grains, and sweet potatoes come in to play next week, for the duration... i'll miss my Maple Grove sugar free spinach waffles (ala Petite Athleat) but your blog will inspire my "operation lean" plan ;)

  7. Wow, you're inspiring! Wine is my Achilles heel too! I've only drank once since 2/13 and I cam home from work Friday and REALLY wanted a glass, but didn't! It would have worked wonders on my stress level, but I knew it would interfere with getting to the gym bright and early Saturday morning, and the gym is so much more fulfilling than even red wine! I skipped the wine and had a GREAT workout the next morning and it really does feel SO good to make the healthier choice. Thank you for posting your struggles! When I see that things get hard for you too but you still kill it, that really helps me hold myself accountable! No excuses!

  8. Do you have a source for your guidelines for the last couple days before your shoot? Or could you share more specifically what they are? I'm going to Las Vegas in 10 days!

  11. My favorite "drink" when out with friends is a virgin bloody mary with extra horseradish! It feels more special than water, is low cal,, is super yummy and also liquid veggies!
