Bulk Cooking & Back to Yoga

I'm totally a day late with this, but since the Super Bowl was the longest things in the entire world I didn't have time. I've talked about how much I don't like bulk cooking before, but in case you haven't heard, I hate it. Okay, I don't hate it hate it, but it's just so darn time consuming and the mess.... gives me the worst anxiety.

I just can't handle my kitchen looking like this.

Yikes. In the end, I have to admit I'm glad I did it. I get home from work and it's always such a rush to get dinner made, not to mention it's the last thing I feel like doing when I get home. Now that everything is cooked, it's way easier to just grab and go and I won't have to worry about rushing to cook. My entire bulk consisted of Shepherds Pie, Turkey Fajitas, Grilled Chicken with Asparagus, Chicken Fried Rice, Salsa Chicken with Poblano Peppers, and hard boiled eggs. This will all be eaten for meals 3, 4 and 5- Meal 1 will be overnight oats, Meal 2 is PWO shake, and meal 6 will be Casein.

Another HUGE benefit to getting this cooking out of the way is now I have time to go back to hot yoga!!!! B and I renewed our memberships last night and went to our first practice since the beginning of the summer. It felt amazing to sweat my butt off and I can't wait to get back in to it. Can't wait.

Do you bulk cook? How do you make sure you're prepared for the week?


  1. Yes I bulk cook and I hate it just as much as you. I made something simple for lunch all week : brown rice, ground turkey and broccoli. For my snacks I make a shake and have cottage cheese oats similar to yours and I also prepped some protein bars to keep on hand just incase.

    I ran out of time so I'll be prepping my dinner today but if I'm ever in a pinch, I grab frozen tilapia and throw it in the oven or pan fry it with a little bit of coconut oil and lemon.

  2. YUP and I HATE it too but in the long run it really does make life easier. LOL I laughed because I have major OCD and my anxiety with the mess drives me INSANE so I am one of those that cleans as I go (which may make the process slightly longer). The food ALL looks so yummy!! I also was wondering how you made that turkey, asparagus dish from WIAW of last week? It looked WAY YUMMY!!

  3. I only bulk cook enough for 3 days. Mentally, I cannot handle food sitting in my fridge for longer than 3 days & not imagining some type of bactertia started to grow on it. I know, crazy. But its been working for me -- whatever works!!

  4. I bulk cook & bake on Sunday mornings and I really try to make it as efficient as possible when doing it. I'll start with the baking the your chocolate pb protein bars and while those are baking, I prep all the veggies I need to cut up for my meals ie, the onion, celery, carrots, etc...then I load up my crockpot with chicken for soup or crockpot chicken to shred and get that going. Then I'll prep another meal on the stove, chili or stew(clean of course). I try to multi-task as much as possible and I find washing the dirty prep dishes as I go makes it so much easier. The entire process takes me between 2-3 hours, but it's so worth it!!! I think of this as part of the process of having a healthy lifestyle, no different than the time it takes to workout or get adequate sleep. It's definitely a commitment & at times suck when you'd rather be doing fun things on your weekend...but we do it because of the amazing benefits!!

  5. I am with all of you...I hate the mess and doing all the dishes afterward. No matter how much I try to clean as I go the kitchen is always a mess when I'm done. But the worst part to me is cleaning all the Tupperware all week...omg it never all fits in the dishwasher. I prep two meals for 3 days and make dinner every other night so I can mix it up a little. The other meals are like yogurt so no prep needed. Its all part of the life!! My family thinks I'm crazy and laughs at me when I whip out my tupperware from my purse.

  7. I have not tried bulk cooking yet, but I'm seriously considering it especially now that I want to embark on healthy lifestyle. I wish there is a fitness center near our area that offers yoga class. I have read a lot of health benefits from doing yoga.
