Supplement Update!

After my post yesterday I got lots of questions about what supplements I take, how much, what brand, etc. I did a vlog a little while back where I went over all my usual supplements, but I thought I would do another quick run down because I have changed up a couple things.

I start each morning off with a shot of Braggs apple cider vinegar followed by a big glass of water. I wouldn’t really consider this a supplement, but it’s something I do every day and find that it helps keep the acidity in my stomach regular.

Either after breakfast or after my protein shake I’ll take my Pure Matters multivitamin, off brand B-12 for energy, off brand D3 during the winter to help my immune system, and my Udos probiotic to help with digestion.

I use MRM egg white protein in my shake, and I may or may not add some extra Optimum glutamine or BCAA’s, just depending on my workout and goals at the time.

At night, I take my Optimum Nutrition casein protein along with my Pure Matters rest easy so that I can get an amazing night’s sleep.

The two things that I have switched up lately are my multivitamin and melatonin. As you may or may not know, I’ve gone through phases in the past where I have horrible sleep patterns. I either can’t fall asleep or I can stay asleep, there were times in the past that I would just toss and turn all night long, and when you are trying to have a healthy body, this is no good. I started using melatonin and that worked pretty well, but I have honestly had the best night’s sleep every single night since I started taking Rest Easy. It has a mix of different things including melatonin, valerian root, L-Tyrosine, and GABA, all of which have been proven to help you sleep. This miracle supplement combines all those things into one and seriously knocks you out! The great thing is I fall asleep easily and sleep through the night, and then wake up feeling great the next morning. If you are one of those people who are having sleep issues, please please try this!!

As for my multivitamin, I’ve switched to the Pure Matters brand of this too, mostly because when I saw “stress formula” on the bottle, I was sold. Anything that’s going to help with stress levels and anxiety is my kind of multi-vitamin. It does have a super strong vitamin smell, but otherwise it’s definitely a new favorite!

Is there a supplement that I don’t take that you swear by?
Have you tried Pure Matters supplements yet?

  7. I have questions about casein... I just got some free MRM cookies & cream samples from bodybuilding.com (gotta love the freebies they throw in) and I'd been wanting to try casein for a while. However.. in reading the ingredients, I wasn't too pleased to see that it had real cookie bits, so it's a bit unclean.
Do you have this same issue with your casein? Is casein really needed for muscle retention, in your opinion?
Thanks! Glad you had a nice Holiday break and that you're back!

    1. no, I use chocolate peanut butter Optimum Nutrition and there are definitely no cookies in there haha. Casein isn't a must have, but eating close to bed time is... so whether that is casein, eggs, cottage cheese, etc. is up to you.

  8. So I've always wondered...does the Apple Cider Vinegar taste horrible? Or like vinegar? I've heard soo many great things about drinking a bit each day but I am too scared to try because it might taste bad!

  11. hello,
In a previous post you mention using the polar ft40 heart rate monitor. just wanted to know if there is any major difference between that model and the ft4? Also can you wear it whilst doing strength training to know how many calories you are burning? Thanks Tam x

  12. Oh and PS - I just ordered and used a coupon code to get $15 off and free s/h. Had to order 2 rest easys (so I really hope I like it!) and some Biotin to get to 50, but for $35, I think that's a pretty good deal. Thanks again for the suggestion!!

  13. I have a question about Udo's Probiotic. Do you use the Udo's Choice Adult formula (1 capsule)? I've just recently started taking Digestive Advantage Probiotic, do you know anything about this (saw it on Dr. Oz, lol, purchase at Target), what are the advantages of Udo's?

Also, what is the difference between a whey protein and a vegetable protein powder? Looking at MRM's (never noticed the veggie blend)...do you use egg white protein instead of whey?

Ugh so many options, leave me with so many questions.... thanks for any help you can offer
