Back With a Bang, and a Huge Giveaway!

Don't worry, I'm alive! B and I took an amazing long vacation to the mountains with friends, and I'm finally back with my head on straight (kind of). I know I'm late on the "I can't believe it's a new year" post, but seriously. Can you believe it? I typically don't make new years resolutions because I like to set goals for myself all throughout the year, and it just so happens it's time for one of those goals! I have been lifting heavy and not doing any cardio for the past few months, and I have seen some great gains, but now it's time to start the lean down process. On top of not doing cardio there was a little bit too much of this going on over the past month or so....

I have a lot going on in March, so I want to be in great shape by then.
So, the loose plan is this:
January- Keep eats the same (carbs pretty high, protein high, fats lower) but start doing cardio 3 times a week.
February- Start lowering carbs a touch and bump up the cardio to 4-5 times a week.
March- Lower carbs but increase fats to compensate, lower overall calories, circuit style training plus cardio.

I'm now the proud owner of a Polar FT40 (woohoo!!) thanks to HHGreg, and it is going to be AWESOME to have over the next few months.

It will help me figure out my calorie burns so that I can better gauge how much I should be eating.

So now it's your turn to spill your resolutions, and you're going to get an awesome prize from my friends at H.H. Gregg

They have so many great products, and a lot of them are fitness related! They're running a great giveaway on their Facebook page too where you can enter to win lots of awesome prizes! The campaign runs until 1/7 so be sure to enter soon!

So, what's in it for you? A $100 gift card to HHGreg! All you have to do is enter below letting me know your resolution, and you're entered! You can tweet about the giveaway for an extra entry too :)
PLEASE BE SURE TO USE THE RAFFLECOPTER ENTRY BOX BELOW!

  18. my health related new years resolution is to "let go". Let go of the hurt from the past that I've been holding onto for over 3 years and live in the moment because I know how wonderful, beautiful and short it can be. my life is blessed beyond belief and I plan on focusing on all the wonderful things more and holding onto to hurt and the past less.
I also am going to gain some muscle on my booty and thighs! :)

  24. I don't believe in New Year's resolutions, as I don't think we should wait a year to change something is not working. But, I've started to force myself to drink more water. Water makes me nauseous (I know kind of weird), so I have to take little sips thorughout the day. This is a head over matter issue and I'm planning to accomplish it!

    ReplyDelete
  25. Continue eating clean but less cheats. I'm starting James Wilson on January 14th when I start back at school. I am in dental hygiene school so one of my resolutions will be to maintain a 4.0. Making time for one date night a week with the hubby. (Cooking dinner, movie, bowling, etc) I also want to work on getting abs for bikini season. And last would be to spend more time in prayer. It's easy to get so busy in life we loose sight of why we are here :)

    1. Less cheats is a big one! Try cutting them out for a whole month... it sounds like a long time, but once you go that long without them you'll want them way less!

  26. I don't necessarily have a resolution, but I have month specific goals. Last year was a nightmare emotionally and a blessing physically. I was able to cope with the negativity in my personal life by pushing myself in the gym and ended up losing 25 lbs and making some huge gains. I will continue setting goals and reaching them from last year- at a basic level -learn to salsa, get back into martial arts and 10 pullups/pushups by a set date (to name a few), and then by the fall I've been saving to be in a figure competition. Sorry for the long blurb!! :)

  51. Your rafflecopter wouldn't let me type my comment, so here it is!

Become consistent with small lifestyle changes. Stop letting myself be "comfortable at this weight," because I am certainly not comfortable with it mentally or emotionally. I want to push myself out of my "comfort zone" because for too long, I have used struggling with an eating disorder a few years ago, as an excuse to not commit 100% to a clean and healthy lifestyle now, in fear of it becoming a negative again. I can be in positive control of my health, and it will happen this year!

    ReplyDelete

    1. I have that same comfort zone problem! Just take baby steps and you'll get there!!

  53. My resolution is to add yoga to my weekly training routine! I really want to work on mind exercises as well, such as writing and reciting daily affirmations to help increase my self-confidence, self-awareness, and overall contentment and happiness!

    ReplyDelete
  54. I want to eat less processed foods and more produce, and exercise 4 times a week.

    ReplyDelete
  55. hmmmm the Rafflecopter did something strange and I didn't get to write a legit comment, so mine is to get healthy again. I had been eating clean and getting into more circuit-type training for about two years. This coincided with my eating disorder recovery. Last year I relapsed. This year I will pull myself out of this hole. I've done it before. I'll do it again.

    ReplyDelete
  56. My Fitness resolution/goal this year is to do 10 pull-ups unassisted =-) I lift heavy and workout 5-6days a week but I still can't do even one pull-up!!!

    ReplyDelete
  57. I want to decrease my intake of sweeteners!

    ReplyDelete
  58. HI BRITTANY!!! HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!! Glad you had some well deserved time off. It looks super beautiful where you were and I can see from the pics you had a blast :0).

Well, I have a lot going on! I signed up for Bodybuilding.com's 2013 12 week transformation challenge. Hard for me to do cause I had to send in before pics and that is REALLY hard for me to do but I DID IT!! YAY! So, funny I will be doing just about the same thing you are. I hadn't done cardio for a while and yesterday did uphill walking and today sprints...OMG I almost died LOL! It's gonna take me a while to get back into a cardio grove. I also started incorporating yoga.

Another goal I have for this year is that after this transformation challenge I want to hunker down and submit my story to Oxygen Mag. I gotta just bite the bullet and do it!!

LOVE the pink polar!!! It's an FT4 correct. Mine is getting ready to retire soon and I SO want the pink one. I would LOVE that gift card!!!

  60. Happy New Year!
My goal (I'm not a fan of Resolutions): Is to earn my CPT from NASM :)
I have been a "gymrat" for just over a year now and it's purely my passion. Not to mention that I have been blessed enough to help out a few friends along the way :)
That's my big goal. Other small goals along the way:
    Lower BF%
    Perfect my squat
Be able to do at least 1 pullup (unassisted) but my true goal is 3 (then my 16 year old has promised to do the dishes for a MONTH!)

    ReplyDelete
  61. My goal is to lean out this year. I took the last three months to gain more muscle and now I will tighten up my diet and shred body fat and let the lean muscle show through. :-) Bring it on 2013! I am READY!!!

  62. Happy New Year! My goals for 2013 are to get motivated again and return to my old gym "rat" self. I have been so unmotivated for way to long and have gotten out of shape and feel icky. I know I can be my better self through hard work, dedication, persistence and patience. I love you blog and the motivation you share. Recently I made you apple, oatmeal muffins. So good!

I am going to start off the year by finally starting and completing James Wilson's program, then I may move on the Jamie Eason's program. I also signed up to run a half marathon in April. I am toying with competing at the end of the year. I competed about 10 years ago and it was the best thing I have ever done. I learned so much about myself, but unfortunately it's what burned me out on training. :(

I have been wanting a new Polar, so fingers crossed that I win. They are wonderful devices and I love that the new one's have sooo many features now. Enjoy yours!
