Tip For Tuesday Vlog

Oooh, YouTube, you get me every time with that still image! Anyway, here is my view on those nasty, negative, not supportive people we all have in our lives, unfortunately.

Here is the blog post I referred to in the video... it's nice to see I've come a long way since I wrote it! I would love to hear about your personal struggles with this and how you have overcome it, or how you plan to!

  1. Great video. Non fitness related, can you do a video on how you apply your eye make up....it's beautiful!!!! ;-)

  2. I cannot wait to watch the video when I get home this evening ... Youtube always gets me with the still image as well ;-)

Making sure to surround yourself with positive, supportive people is a huge boost and I completely recommend this to anyone who is dedicated to this lifestyle, or any lifestyle that is not the "norm".

  3. I sooo agree with the comment above! I LOVE your eye make-up and would really really love a tutorial on how you apply it. By the way your eyelashes are gorgeous do you use anything special? Latisse, falsies, extensions, etc?? Whatever you use I need to get some haha!

  4. I 100% agree with your post - surrounding yourself with positive and understanding people is key! If you have any tips on how you stick to your clean eating plan while away on your trips I would appreciate it! That is the hardest thing for me, I can stick to my plan 100% and pack my cooler with food while at home/work, but when I step foot on an airplane, I struggle to adhere to my plan. Especially when going on a trip with girlfriends, when the trip pretty much revolves around going out for drinks and food. Anyways, any tips on what you bring with you and how you stick to your plan would be appreciated! Thanks! Love your blog:)

  5. I agree with your perspective. There isn't anything you can do about influencing another person's eating habits or even their workout habits. I personally can't and won't date someone that isn't into being healthy and eating clean. It's too difficult to deal with for me. My significant other must share the same interest (working out, eating healthy, etc) or the relationship won't work.

  6. You can't do anything about the comments but you can do something about the way you respond to them or let them affect you. I agree that you must surround yourself with positive people. You can't worry about those that don't support you and spend your energy trying to prove them wrong. They will see the truth in action when you look amazing and are healthy. :)

    Have a great trip.

  7. I find it so bizarre that people think it's bizarre that people want to eat healthy. I have recovered from an eating disorder and people think my clean eating is part of that. It frustrates me to no end. I'm actually giving my body the respect it deserves and not depriving myself in the slightest. I think an important thing you said was to not give in. It's not really about that one cookie or whatever, it's about being true to yourself and living how you decide. Safe travels!

  8. I find these situations very frustating. My boyfriend totally gets it and he is on board with clean eating and working out but most of my family and friends are a whole different story. I don't try to push anyone to eat the same things I eat but seems like it is not enough for them as they still judge what I do. And like you said, that whole "1 cookie won't kill you" thing is what they are constantly telling me. Besides the fact that it obviously annoys me, it hurts me because I feel like they don't respect my choices. The same goes for anyone who is constantly trying to stuff your face with things you have repeatedly explained you no longer eat. I find myself pushing those people out of my life now, because I want to be sorrounded by people who accept me in the same way I accept them, so whoever cares about me will have to learn to deal or back off, I guess. Someone recently told me that those people prefer to judge because otherwise they would be acknowledging they could also make some changes in their own lifestyle and they are not willing to do that, so instead of accepting that, they prefer to say that the others are wrong.

    1. I think that's SO true. They see what they wish they could be in you, so instead of encouraging they try to bring you down. It's really a shame!

  9. My sister deleted me from facebook and won't speak to me because she got tired of seeing my workout posts and fitness inspirations everyday. As hard as it is to accept i know its for the best because she always put me down about my being too dedicated. Its real hard when its family but you have to hold your ground and not change your lifestyle to please others.

  10. I loved your post today! I couldn't agree with you more on surrounding yourself with positive people. I'm lucky in that my boyfriend and I are both trainers and both enjoy the lifestyle we lead but it can definitely be tough when people put you down for doing something you KNOW is good for you.

I feel empowered being able to stick to my guns and say no, I know why I'm eating what I do and that's all that matters.

  11. Love your post & vlog!! Thank you for helping us feel like we're not alone, because we all get those responses from people in our life that don't understand our commitment to clean eating, fitness, and being healthy. It's comforting to hear you address it after people make me feel like an alien most of the time for my healthy lifestyle, lol!!

  12. First off, I 3rd the tutorial for your eye makeup application, your eyes always look so great!!

Secondly, my condolences for everyone who has to deal with mean, negative people in their lives. The sister deleting thing on Facebook?!?! Seems to me she has BIG problems that really don't have anything at all to do with her sister's clean eating. I believe all negative words and actions stem from guilty consciences. It's easier to put someone down for doing the right thing then to get off your butt and join them! We see this in all walks of life. Winston Churchill said: “You have enemies? Good. That means you've stood up for something, sometime in your life.”

Lastly, I've always preferred clean eating (except while pregnant! :D ) but my husband is a skinny fat kid, as you say, and I have 2 toddlers to feed. I make a point to try a new, clean recipe every week in search of good, not-boring clean meals. I'm slowly assembling an arsenal of tasty, interesting, clean dinners that everyone loves. I'm very grateful to b, she has lots of great meal ideas that have gone over wonderfully! Also, I've found that Mexican food is our favorite go-to: lots of fresh ingredients and flavor and cleans up well. Finding good recipes everyone likes allows me and my family to eat clean and like it. No protests anymore (unless a new recipe doesn't work out so well!). Good luck to all.

  13. Thanks for the vlog. I have given up on negative & snarky people. I just realize that their attitude is the reason why they are overweight and unhealty, and my attitude is the reason why I am in great shape and healthy.
