Easter, a few days late...

So I originally planned on posting this yesterday, but for some reason blogger didn't save my draft sooo this is the re-write. I have to start off by sharing this awesome picture my mom sent me of her fridge.

So clean! Almond milk, Ezekiel bread, lots of fruits and veggies. I cannot express how thrilled I am that my family has truly made a lifestyle change. Since we are all officially clean eaters, we had a completely clean Easter dinner! The menu consisted of a veggie tray with hummus for appetizer then a spinach salad with homemade raspberry vinaigrette dressing which was to.die.for. I will have to get the exact recipe from my mom and post it. She made home made cinnamon roasted almonds for a topping on the salad and those were beyond amazing too. Then we had chicken kabobs with mini bell peppers, tomato and basil brown rice, a fruit salad with Ezekiel tortilla chips baked with cinnamon and Truvia, and roasted asparagus.

My grandparents were there and they couldn't stop talking about how great dinner was, and they aren't even clean eaters! Makes my heart happy :)

Then of course, since I do have a 10 year old sister and it's only fair she gets to be a kid...

I stared at those Reese's allll day.
BUT my self control won out and I didn't cave! My future self will thank me for it!

Charley had a wonderful Easter too! :)

Has anyone tried to introduce clean eating to the fam? How did it go?

  1. Sounds like a great Easter! I have tried over and over again to get my parents on board but they love the traditional heavy Italian foods, especially on special occasions. It makes it harder for me and truly is a test of my willpower!

I could eat all those Reese eggs RIGHT NOW!

  2. several of my family members eat clean...myself (56)... my oldest brother (61) and my sister in law (55)...new to clean eating is my 79 years old, Father...he got a Vit-A-Mix and juices several times a day now...I can't tell you what progress this is for an old school italian to eat this way...it's just awesome...he recently got a pacemaker and is on the mend from that surgery...I'm just thrilled...now to get my Mom on board...and my bacon-lovin youngest brother...~I love my family~

  3. Everything looks amazing! What kid of seasoning did your mom use for the chicken kabobs?
Also, does she put any other seasoning in the rice aside from basil?

  5. My dad used to be bodybuilder and compete and all that jazz so it kinda runs in the family for me! :)
Last new years my mom was having trouble losing weight & we were lifting prob 4 days a week together. I challenged her to a month of only clean eating with 1 cheat per week. I wrote up a meal plan for her and she was all set. In the 1 month she lost as much weight as the previous 6 months combined! It's true what they say: Abs are made in the kitchen!!

  7. WOW that is an impressive looking refrigerator!!! MMMM and all the Easter food looks so yummy!! Charley is adorable. I have tried several clean recipes with my family but they are hard core set on anything fried, dripping in butter, cheese, full fat, heavy on the bread and pasta, SUGAR EVERYTHING, salt and the list goes on. It is super hard for me but I manage :0).

The one thing I would have caved on during Easter never crossed my path but it is in your sister basket.......mini snickers mmmmm yummy!! Good job resisting not sure I would have been able to :0).
