Blackberry Protein Shake

I think I have a small appliance obsession. Do you have a Ninja? If not, go to Target and buy one. Now. {PS It's on SALE!}

I got my Ninja mixer a few months ago and I'm pretty sure there has not been a single day that has passed that it did not get used. Beyond it's great mixing capabilities, it's awesome because it actually comes with two mixers, a momma and a baby. There is a small one that is perfect for quickly dicing up veggies and the big one is great for post workout shakes. Ninja people are not paying me to write this or anything [although that would be welcomed!] I'm just genuinely in love with my mixer.

Oh, and I can't forget to mention that the deal around the B's house is the cook doesn't clean, or in this case the shake maker doesn't clean. I get to have all the fun with the Ninja and make so many delicious post workout shakes while B has to clean. I love it. But don't tell him.

Ingredients
1/4 cup blackberries
1/2 frozen banana (this is key for the thickness)
1/4 cup non fat greek yogurt
1 tsp cinnamon (or more if you're me)
1/2 cup unsweetened almond milk
1 scoop vanilla protein powder
3-4 ice cubes

This was a great change from the typical pumpkin shake, and not to mention very pretty to look at!

  2. I literally just told the BF I wanted a ninja yesterday. The magic bullet leaves chunks and his Ostee blender does nothing but make a bunch of noise (although he swears by it). I'm officially making him buy me one and then immediately making this shake :)

  4. Hello, recently found your site and I love it! I am just starting the Lifefit trainer and am doing my workouts at 530am as well. I was wondering if you eat breakfast before you workout? I have quite a bit of weight to lose, and have heard debates about working out in a fasted state. Would love your opinion. Thanks! Brittany

    1. I definitely don't recommend lifting on an empty stomach! Pre and post workout meals are most important for muscle building and with more muscle, you will boost your metabolism, which means more fat burning! I eat egg whites and oats or egg whites and ezekiel toast before the gym.

    2. Thanks for your quick reply, I will start to eat before workouts. Can I eat this right before heading to the gym or do I need more time for digestion? Dreading waking up earlier that 5 to eat. hehe

  5. Oh, I need a new blender and since a Vitamix costs a small fortune, this one might suffice! I've been obsessed with putting roasting beets into smoothies lately. Do you ever put veggies into your smoothies? Can't wait for summer for the blackberries... we grow a TON of them.
