I wish every day could be a weekend. Okay, maybe not because then they wouldn't be so special but I do love my weekends. I worked in the restaurant/bar industry from the time I was 16 until about a year ago, and when you're in that industry, you kind of have to come to terms with the fact that weekends don't exist for you the same way they do for others. Weekends are the money making days, which means work work work! Even though I've been out of it for almost a year now, I think I'm still adjusting to the fact that I'm a "normal" person that works normal days and normal hours. I kind of like this because it definitely makes me cherish and appreciate my time off over Saturday and Sunday, and this weekend I did just that! Saturday night we went out with friends for dinner and to watch the UFC and boxing matches that were on.
It seems like everyone's lives are getting busier and crazier these days, so it was great to see everyone and catch up. Now, as much as I love my free time over the weekend, I definitely still like my sleep and try to stay as close to my weekday schedule as possible. The main fight on Saturday didn't start until about 10PM and I honestly didn't think I was going to make it to the end! I'm usually well asleep by this time and my body was retaliating for still being awake. My eyes were burning and I got a monstrous headache. Needless to say, I'm an old lady at heart and really don't mind being in bed by 9 o'clock, even if it s a Saturday night :)
On Sunday we went to the NASCAR race at Phoenix International Raceway-- not exactly my typical scene but it was a great time and now I can say I've been to a NASCAR race :)
By the way I was totally unprepared when it came to food at the race. I tried to make pumpkin protein bars Sunday morning to take with me, but they took forever to bake and I ran out of time. Thankfully, we had to make a beer run ( for the boys.... ) and so I ever so kindly suggested we stop at Fresh & Easy for the beer. I really lucked out that there was a Fresh & Easy out in the middle of nowhere by the racetrack! I picked up some hard boiled eggs and a one-serving size of Fage Greek Yogurt. I managed to throw some protein powder and almonds in my bag before we left the house, so after our pit stop [no pun intended] I was set. I won't lie, I did have one bite of B's hot dog and a couple sweet potato fries :)
I need to give a little more love to my workouts tab, so I'm going to start sharing as much as I can with you while we are in this building phase. Today was legs:
Barbell Squat- 8 reps x 3 sets- last set is a drop set
Leg Press- 8 reps x3 sets- last set is a drop set
One leg barbell lunge- 8 reps x 3 sets- last set is a drop set
Super set: lying leg curl with glute machine- 8 reps x 3 sets
Seated Calf machine- 15 reps x 3 sets
Then we did a little abs- leg raises super set with decline weighted sit-ups. Remember to go HEAVY on everything!!
Oh, and did I mention it's my birth week? B says I don't get a birth week, but I beg to differ :)
