Little tools

One of my biggest struggles is figuring out how much food I'm eating, and what the nutritional value of that food is. A great tool I found (also available as an iPhone app) is called My Fitness Pal. It has a ton of feautres including a food diary, excercise tracker, and a way to track your goals. Personally, I use the food diary which helps me not only with making sure I'm eating right, but is a permanent log of my progress- which is also the reason I started blogging. My Fitness Pal allows you to set your calorie goal for the day, enter how you would like it divided, and then enter all the food you eat at each meal. I track carbs, protein, fats, and sugar but there are a ton of other options you can add in.

I'm personally shooting for 40-40-20, and 1500-1600 calories a day. The past couple days I have been falling a little short of my calorie goal because I'm just not used to eating this much... 1500 calories (of clean food) is a lot of food for me...but I'll get there! To help up my carbs and protein I tried Jamie Easons recipe for Lemon Protein Bars tonight, and they came out awesome!

Serving size: 2 bars
(Recipe makes 16)
Calories: 86
Fat: 1g
Protein: 10g

The only things I switched up were Truvia instead of Splenda, and regular no sugar added applesauce instead of baby applesauce-- nothing against baby food its just what I had in the house. Tomorrow is leg day and after how sore I was last week, I'm dreading it!
